Templates are a set of tools that allow a player to switch equipment and builds quickly. This tool is separated into Equipment Templates and Build Templates which are used to set their respective loadout. Build Templates can also be stored in Build Storage in order to be accessed account-wide. These will be available starting at level 1.

There is no single, definitive method for designing a sigil. The method I use is one of the more traditional versions but any method that allows you to condense an intention into a single symbol will work. The important part is that you feel that the symbol has power when you are finished. This template can be used to make a standard navigation box. It is intended for use within another template that standardises the title and contents of the box (see Template:Rune equipment). This template should not be used directly within articles, as it creates a maintenance burden to do so whenever the contents of the box have to be updated.

Builds in the build storage or build tab can be linked in chat by holding Ctrl or Shift and left clicking. Builds linked in chat will show [<Profession> Build] and can be inspected, applied, and/or saved to the build storage. For more info about the chat link and how does it work see Chat link format.

Build Template[edit]

The Build Template user interface (right)

Build Templates are accessed from the Build tab of your Hero panel [H]. They are used to quickly switch between different skills, specializations, and trait selections. You can share builds with others in chat.

— In-game description

Build templates are a set of tabs across the top of the build panel that can each store a loadout containing a set of specializations and selected traits along with a set of healing, elite and utility skills. Rangerpets and Revenantlegends (and skill order) are also stored. A character has 3 tabs available by default and can be expanded up to 6 by purchasing Build Template Expansion (300 for one tab) in the Gem Store. These templates are character specific and not account wide.

  • Each build tab can store one build your character can use and can be swapped between at no cost while out of combat.
  • Builds in the build tab can be moved to the build storage and vice-versa.
  • Using a template on a character that does not have everything unlocked will apply only as much as has been unlocked and will automatically fill in as traits and skills get trained.
  • If the build that is swapped to cannot use the currently equipped weapon the weapon skills will be greyed out.
  • Changing builds while a skill is on cooldown will cause the cooldown to carry over to the new skill.
  • Changing a skill on your skill bar will also change it on your current build template.
  • Build and Equipment Templates last used in PvE, WvW, and PvP are remembered as of the December 3,2019 update, and are automatically activated when returning to that game mode.

It is not possible to swap to another build tab using templates outside your Keep in World versus World. Doing it manually is still possible. It is not possible to swap to another build tab while a PvP game is in progress.

Right click options
  • Store Active Build Template - Overwrites the stored build with your current active build
  • Copy Build Template - Copy the selected build onto your clipboard
  • Paste Build Template - Overwrite the stored build with the build on your clipboard
  • Inspect - Opens the Inspect window for the selected build
  • Rename - Allows you to rename the build
  • Clear Build Template - Unequips all skills and specializations

Build Storage[edit]

The Build Storage user interface (left)

The build storage is a tab on the left in your Build panel that can store build templates that the player created, obtained online, or were linked in chat. Build templates stored here can be viewed by any character on the account and can be set as the character's current build by clicking on it. An account will have 3 storage spaces unlocked initially and can be expanded up to 24 spaces by purchasing Build Storage Expansion (500 for three spaces) in the Gem Store.

  • Builds stored in the build storage can be viewed on any character on your account regardless of profession.
  • Stored builds can be inspected at any time, which opens a new window with the relevant traits and skills selected.
  • Builds stored in the build storage can be filtered by profession. Builds can also be further sorted by profession or alphabetically or searched for directly.
Left clicking an empty build storage space
  • Store Active Build Template - Stores your currently active build
Right clicking an empty build storage space
  • Store Active Build Template - Stores your currently active build
  • Paste Build Template - Stores the build on your clipboard into your build storage
Left clicking a stored build
  • Store Active Build Template - Prompts for confirmation to overwrite the stored build with your current active build
Right clicking a stored build
  • Store Active Build Template - Overwrites the stored build with your current active build
  • Copy Build Template - Copy the selected build onto your clipboard
  • Paste Build Template - Overwrite the stored build with the build on your clipboard
  • Inspect - Opens the Inspect window for the selected build
  • Rename - Allows you to rename the build
  • Delete - Removes the build from the build storage

Attempting to use a build template for a different profession (e.g. a Soulbeast build on a Warrior) will display 'Build template is incompatible with your current profession.'

Build Sharing[edit]

Build inspection window.

As stated above, builds can be linked in chat. Mousing over a linked build will show a preview of what skills and traits the build uses. Clicking on it will open the inspection window to the right. A build can also be inspected from the Build Storage. For more info about the chat link and how does it work see Chat link format.

The inspection window will grant the ability to read more in-depth information on skill and trait choices, however modifying it will not be possible. The three buttons at the top right will allow you to do the following:

  • Use the build (if it is compatible with your current profession)
  • Copy the build template into a chat link code that is stored on your clipboard.
  • Store it in your build storage.

Build template codes can be:

  • Shared in chat or outside of the game or stored in a text file.
  • Exported or imported from Build Template Tab and Build Storage
  • Previewed from chat and examined, then copied or saved
Right clicking a link in chat
  • Inspect — Opens the inspection window
  • Store Build Template — Stores the build in the Build Storage
  • Apply to Build Template — Sets as the current build. Grayed out if it is not compatible.
  • Copy Build Template — Copies the chat link to your clipboard.

Equipment Template[edit]

The Equipment Template user interface (top)
Template

Equipment Templates are accessed from the Equipment tab of your Hero panel. They are used to quickly switch between sets of armor, weapons, upgrades, and other types of gear. An item can be equipped in multiple templates. Legendary items can be assigned different attributes in each template, giving you the freedom to easily change your playstyle.

— In-game description

The equipment template is a set of tabs under your Equipment panel that can each store a loadout containing a set of weapons, armor, trinkets, back item, runes, sigils and infusions. A character will have 2 equipment tabs available initially and can be expanded up to 6 by purchasing Equipment Template Expansion (500 for one tab) in the Gem Store. These templates are character specific and not account wide.

  • Build and Equipment Templates last used in PvE, WvW, and PvP are remembered as of the December 3,2019 update, and are automatically activated when returning to that game mode.
Equipment Storage

It is not required that items be stored in the equipment storage. If the player wants to keep all items in their character's inventory it is possible, however storing them will free up inventory space.

The equipment template can store up to 60 unique items per tab. As long as the item can be removed at no cost (e.g. runes in legendary armor) equipment stored in one tab can be used across other tabs. A small gray chain symbol can be seen on the item in the bottom right corner if they are currently equipped to another equipment template. They still appear in the equipment tab, though not in your inventory, when you are creating a new equipment template. Items that are stored in the equipment storage are saved to the character and cannot be used on other characters on the account.

Items stored in the equipment storage can be removed by right clicking the item and selecting 'Unequip from All Equipment Templates.' This will cause the item to be returned to your character's inventory. If the item was used in multiple equipment templates it will be removed with its current upgrades unless those upgrades were used in another item in another template, in which case the upgrade will be removed and applied to those items before removing the item.

Equipment Tab

Sony vegas 13 32 bit. Mousing over a tab will display the stat changes that will be caused by swapping equipment templates and the weapons that will be equipped.

  • The stat totals preview only counts the base attributes on the equipped items and do not take into account attributes from upgrade components such as runes, sigils, jewels or infusions. Their totals will still be reflected correctly in the hero panel. Traits and temporary stats (e.g. food, utility items, boons, signet and effects) are also excluded because they are not equipment.
  • Ascended trinkets and back items and Legendary trinkets and back items have an ascended jewel automatically calculated into their total stats. Because they are still considered upgrades their attributes are not counted in the preview.

Right clicking a tab will allow you to copy the equipment template, paste an equipment template, rename the tab or unequip all items. While they can be copied to the clipboard, they will not be able to be linked in chat.

Notes[edit]

  • Build templates and equipment templates can be placed on their own keybinds.
  • The equipment template is not a wardrobe template.
  • The following notification is displayed if you still need to choose stats: 'You have an equipped item that does not have stats selected. Double-click it to assign stats.'
  • If a character has the same item equipped in two build templates, and unequips it from one, it will not appear in inventory. To see it in inventory, unequip the item from all templates.

Trivia[edit]

Sigil is an Americancomic bookseries published by CrossGen Entertainment from July 2000 to December 2003, ending at issue forty-two. Sigil was one of the publisher's first four titles (the others are Mystic, Scion, and Meridian), a science fictionspace opera, originally created by Mark Alessi and Gina M. Villa. The book is one of many from the publisher that took place in the Sigilverse, or the CrossGen universe.

In 2011, Sigil was part of Marvel Comics' relaunch of the Crossgen Universe.

Setting[edit]

The bulk of Sigil takes place on and around the worlds of the Planetary Union, a group of five human-inhabited planets: Gaia (believed to be humanity's homeworld), Brejhur, Delassia, Kayseecay, and Victor. Humans have also colonized the neutral world of Tanipal, which seceded from the Union some time before the series opened. Tanipal is ruled by the Sultan Ronolo.

As the series opens, the Planetary Union has been at war with the Saurians, a starfaring race of reptilian humanoids, for several centuries. The size of the saurian empire is never revealed in the series, but its capital is the saurian homeworld, Tcharun.

Plot synopsis[edit]

Samandahl 'Sam' Rey was a former soldier for the Planetary Union. He and his good friend Roiya Sintor were laid off from the army due to cut-backs, and became mercenaries. The pair were 'vacationing' on the pleasure world of Tanipal when the series began. While on Tanipal, Sam and Roiya meet the beautiful Zanniati Oribatta and her bodyguard, an orange eyed-man named JeMerik Meer; these four would be inseparable for the rest of the series.

During that initial meeting, a Saurian assassin squad arrived looking for Sam. Sam had previously made an enemy of Tchlusarud, the youngest Saurian prince. The prince desperately wanted Sam dead. In the ensuing fight, Sam was tackled by an odd Saurian with glowing orange eyes. The Saurian cryptically said to Sam, 'You shall find them, gather them, and lead them,' and branded him with a swirling red and yellow mark: the sigil. The saurian then disappeared. While Sam was distracted, one of the attacking Saurians impaled Roiya with his weapon, fatally injuring her.

The four retreated to Sam's ship, The Bitterluck, where they failed to save Roiya's life. In a fit of rage, Sam activated his sigil, destroying a large part of the city in the process.

Relaunch[edit]

Sigil was relaunched by Marvel Comics in March 2011 with an entirely different storyline. Now starring Samantha Rey, a 16-year-old South Carolina girl who awakens one day to find herself branded with a strange symbol, she finds herself thrust into a war across time.

Creative teams[edit]

Sigil was created by Mark Alessi and Gina Villa.

The original creative team consisted of writer Barbara Kesel, the Lai Brothers, Ben on pencils and Ray on inks, and Wil Quintana coloring. Over the years, this line-up changed several times.
